Scott and Kitman at the A-Ma Temple
A-Ma Temple dates from the 15th Century. The temple already existed before the city of Macao was established.
In fact, the name "Macao" derived from the phonetic Chinese "A-Ma-Gau," which means "Bay of A-Ma," referring to A-Ma Temple.
A-Ma Temple consists of the Gate Pavillion, the Memorial Arch, the Prayer Hall, the Hall of Benevolence, the Hall of Guayyin, and Zhengjiao Canlin (a Buddist pavilion), each forming a small part of the well-ordered complex which sits perfect harmony with the natural environment.

Scott and Kitman at the Guia Fortress
Guia Fortress, overlooking the Inner Harbor, was built between 1622-1638. Inside the fortress lie Guia Chapel and Guia Lighthouse.
The site was a restricted military facility until 1976, when it opened as a major tourist attraction. The Lighthouse is the oldest of its kind in South China, built in 1865 and Macao takes its coordinates from its location.
In 1998, frescoes were discovered inside the Guia Chapel, with elaborate representations of both Chinese and Western themes displaying motifs of religious and mythologial inspiration, enhancing even further the cultural value of the chapel.

Scott and Kitman at the Ruins of St. Paul's
Ruins of St. Paul's refer to the magnificent granite facade of what was originally the Chruch of Mater Dei, built in 1602-1640.
The construction of the granite facade itself was only finished between 1637-1640, after the completio of the church structure.
In 1835, a fire destroyed the entire complex, leaving only the impressive granite facade that is, perhaps the most recognizable Monument of Macau.
